Demeritocracy or the Two Faces of Arias Ruth no longer in development

2017-announced "Machiavellian adventure" game from Hifumi Kouno cancelled.

Demeritocracy or the Two Faces of Arias Ruth

Demeritocracy or the Two Faces of Arias Ruth is no longer in development, DMM Games has confirmed to Gematsu.

The “Machiavellian adventure” game was first announced for PlayStation 4 at Tokyo Game Show 2017. It was to be directed by Hifumi Kouno, who previously directed Clock Tower, Clock Tower 2, and most recently, NightCry, with character designs by Arco Wada, who is known for her work on Fate/Grand Order.

DMM Games did not provide a reason for the game’s cancellation. Demeritocracy or the Two Faces of Arias Ruth was the second original console title planned by the company following Gal Metal, which launched for Switch in February 2017.

In recent years, DMM Games’ console output has been limited to localizations of western PlayStation 4 titles, including Ancestor’s Legacy on December 19, Daymare: 1998 on February 20, 2020, and Frostpunk on February 27.
