Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana

NIS America has released a new trailer for Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana introducing the series’ protagonist, the “fearless adventurer” Adol Christin.

Here’s an outline of the character, via NIS America:

Adol Christin, the brave red-headed adventurer who has endured countless challenges and dangers, has returned and embarks on his biggest and most daring adventure yet on the Isle of Seiren! After washing up on the cursed island, Adol meets a brand-new cast of characters that join him on his journey. In his dreams, a mysterious, blue-haired maiden named Dana appears. Amidst these mysteries, Adol must brace himself for all of the challenges ahead!

NIS America also announced that it will release free costume downloadable content for Adol for one week upon launch, beginning on September 12 in North America and September 15 in Europe. The content includes:

  • Adol’s Silver Armor – The memorable, original armor Adol wore in Ys.
  • Adol’s Adventurer Clothes – Jaunty clothing that Adol wears on his adventures around the world.
  • Adol’s Survival Kit – Obtain items that are useful when adventuring on a deserted island. Survival Kit includes: Blade Ring II (x1), Empty Bottle (x1), and Iron Ore (x10).

Finally, NIS America revealed that users who pre-order the PlayStation 4 version of Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana via the PlayStation Store will receive a free PlayStation 4 theme, seven character avatars, and a five-track digital soundtrack.

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is due out for PlayStation 4, PS Vita, and PC on September 12 in North America and September 15 in Europe.
