“Many new fighting games” are in development at SNK, The King of Fighters XIV producer Yasuyki Oda told IGN Latin America in an interview.
“We’re developing many new fighting games that we cannot announce yet, but we’d like you to stay tuned,” Oda told IGN.
While Oda did not hint at which titles SNK is developing, earlier in the interview he said they are “always considering” making new entries in series such as Fatal Fury or Art of Fighting, but “the problem is the company’s approval for we to make it, there are a lot of people to convince, which is very difficult, but of course it’s something we’d like to do (laugh).”
Oda also said “there is nothing planned” for an enhanced version of The King of Fighters XIII, which was released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
As for the future of The King of Fighters XIV, Oda said, “We are still not sure if we will have more downloadable content or patches, but when we released new characters in April, and the fans’ reception was very good, so if we were to make extra content, we would like them to be new characters rather than new costumes because it’s what fans like the most.”
Regarding whether there will be a new King of Fighters game or more updates to The King of Fighters XIV, Oda said, “For the moment we can not confirm or deny either of these two possibilities, but we are convinced that The King of Fighters XV will be a reality. At the moment we are not sure if there will be a new patch for The King of Fighters XIV, but it is definitely a possibility.”
The King of Fighters XIV is available now for PlayStation 4 and PC.
