PlayStation 4 sales top 18.5 million worldwide

4.1 million sold through the holiday season alone.

Sales for PlayStation 4 have topped 18.5 million worldwide, Sony Computer Entertainment announced.

The platform moved 4.1 million units during the 2014 holiday shopping season alone, reaching its new total of 18.5 million as of January 4.

PlayStation Plus subscriptions surpassed 10.9 million as of January 2.

The platform has a large lineup of upcoming titles in the works. Outlined in the press release include: Street Fighter V (Capcom), Final Fantasy XV (Square Enix), Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (Konami), The Tomorrow Children, The Order: 1886, and Bloodborne (SCE Worldwide Studios), and indie titles like AsteBreed (Active Gaming Media), Galak-Z (17 Bit), and Mighty No. 9 (Comcept).

PlayStation 4 first launched in North America on November 22, 2013.
