Watch Dogs, Ubisoft Monreal’s Chicago-set open-world hacking game, has gone gold on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC, Ubisoft announced.
The game, first announced at E3 2012, has been in development since 2009. It stars Aiden Pearce, who wields a cell phone that grants unprecedented access to Chicago’s Central Operating System, which he’ll use as a vigilante to seek justice (or vengeance) against those who harmed his family.
“It’s exciting to be gold,” creative director Jonathan Morin said on the Ubi Blog. “But it’ll be more exciting when people are playing. For the fans it means that it’s true. It means there will be no such thing as another delay. But for us, it’s not done until they actually have it in their hands.”
Watch Dogs will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC on May 27. A Wii U version is planned for release later this year.
