Gran Turismo 7 could launch as soon as next year

"We don't want to take too long," series creator says.

We’re just two weeks away from the release of Gran Turismo 6, but Gran Turismo 7 could release as soon as next year, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi has said.

“We don’t want to take too long on Gran Turismo 7,” Yamauchi told Top Gear at this year’s Los Angeles Motor Show. “Best-case scenario? Next year.

“In Gran Turismo 6 we really had to tune the software 100 per cent to maximize the PS3’s architecture, but of course the PS4’s hardware is much better, so I think the overall quality of the game across the board will be boosted when you come to play it.”

In comparison, Gran Turismo 6 is coming out three years after Gran Turismo 5.

Gran Turismo 6 is due out for PlayStation 3 on December 5.
