SSX: Deadly Descents, announced this weekend during the Video Game Awards in Los Angeles, is a “reinvention” of the classic franchise, EA‘s revealed in the game’s official announcement today.
The game, in development at EA Canada for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, promises to “redefine” the franchise, and has the player a team with a dream to go up against some of the most treacherous mountains on Earth. These include the Himalayas, Antarctica, and other notorious mountains. The players’ first goal is to survive; their second: to look good doing it.
“An entire genre was born from the original SSX a decade ago, and it’s time to reboot one of the most popular franchises of all-time in an unpredictable and unexpected way,” said Peter Moore, President, EA SPORTS. “Fans have been begging for this since the launch of this generation of consoles, and we have an experience that will be worth the wait. This franchise has always been about racing, tricks, characters and fun – SSX: Deadly Descents will deliver all of that, and more, on a global scale, with rich online experiences, and with the sense of adventure never before imagined on a snowboard.”
SSX: Deadly Descents is due out next winter. Check out the first two screenshots and the game logo at the gallery. The debut trailer can be seen below, for those that missed it.
