GIRLS’ FRONTLINE 2: EXILIUM – ‘Chiral Redundancy’ update introduces OTs-14, the first MOD Doll Nemesis: Gnosis, and major rewards

GIRLS’ FRONTLINE 2: EXILIUM, the latest entry in the long-running Girls’ Frontline series, is a free-to-play tactical strategy RPG that puts players in the role of the Commander, leading a squad called “Tactical Dolls” through turn-based battles while navigating a story set in a world transformed by years of conflict.

Now, the story takes another huge step forward with “Chiral Redundancy,” a new update that launched on August 27. Positioned as the best update yet for returning players, it introduces new Doll OTs-14, and the game’s first MOD Doll, Nemesis: Gnosis, while delivering over 80 pulls and 9,400+ Collapse Pieces, plus 80 additional pulls from Reunion Oath that guarantee at least one selected Elite Doll or Elite Weapon. The update also pushes the main storyline forward as the Commander’s resources, partnerships, and influence continue to grow, raising the stakes of future confrontations with rival factions. New systems, events, and outfits round out a patch designed to help both new and returning Commanders build their squads and catch up quickly.

The first half of the “Chiral Redundancy” update, which will run from August 27 to September 16, focuses on OTs-14—a familiar face to longtime Girls’ Frontline players whose arrival has major implications for the story.

OTs-14 Joins the Fray

OTs-14 is the first Doll to feature the new “Resonance” Attribute, giving her the ability to adapt to the attributes of the other Dolls in her squad. Depending on her team organization, she can provide different bonuses while serving as both a damage dealer and support unit.

Made to work across a variety of team organizations, OTs-14 can benefit from different Phase damage mechanics and adapt her role to the allies around her, making her a flexible addition to both new and established squads.

But OTs-14’s arrival is about more than just a new addition to the roster.

Chiral Redundancy Explores Memory and Identity

In the game’s story, the original frame of Groza—believed to have sacrificed herself to protect the Commander—did not truly perish. Instead, she was recovered and modified into a third-generation Doll known as Juno.

Meanwhile, the Groza who has accompanied the Commander throughout GIRLS’ FRONTLINE 2: EXILIUM was reconstructed from a backup frame.

When the two distinct Dolls finally meet, the “Chiral Redundancy” update explores questions of identity, memory, and what it means to be the “original” Groza. Their competing claims to the same past leads to an emotional confrontation and a key decision for the Commander as the main story progresses.

The update also continues the Commander’s “Tomato Emperor” storyline, the tomato enterprise expands from the Mokosh base, building on the resources and connections established in earlier chapters. As the Commander forges new outside partnerships and grows the faction’s influence, clashes with rival powers carry greater weight, offering clear evidence that the Commander is becoming a force in the wider conflict.

A New Way to Upgrade Your Dolls

“Chiral Redundancy” introduces the Doll MOD system, allowing Standard Dolls to be upgraded into Elite Dolls and unlocking new combat potential. Nemesis: Gnosis is the game’s first MOD Doll and the first character to showcase this new progression system.

Through the “Gnostic Insight” event, Commanders can obtain Nemesis’s Original Frame—the item required to upgrade the existing Standard Doll into Nemesis: Gnosis—for free. Segment materials are obtained separately with points from each version’s themed shop, allowing Commanders to develop her to Segment 6 at no cost. Her corresponding Elite Weapon can also be developed for free, making the first MOD Doll unusually accessible. She also introduces dual-form combat capabilities, allowing Commanders to switch between two forms depending on their needs.

Plenty for Returning Commanders

The update also adds a range of rewards and benefits aimed at helping returning players catch up. “Chiral Redundancy” offers over 80 pulls and 9,400+ Collapse Pieces, through play and daily exchanges, along with a free Nemesis: Gnosis, On top of these rewards, Reunion Oath missions award up to 80 additional Reunion Permissions (Time Limited), allowing Commanders to obtain at least one Elite Doll or Elite Weapon for free. Returning Commanders who activate the return event also receive separate returnee-exclusive benefits, including a welcome-back letter from their Dolls, exclusive login rewards and return missions, and double resource benefits to help returning Commanders quickly strengthen their Dolls and catch up with the latest content.

Beyond its OTs-14 and the main story, the update introduces the “Tile Transformation” system, which allows different attribute tiles to combine into new Fusion Tiles, as well as the seasonal “Frontier Conquest” campaign mode. New outfits are also featured, including OTs-14’s “Destined Love,” a redesigned and reimagined version of OTs-14‘s iconic costume from the Girls’ Frontline, and Klukai’s “Immaculate Service.”

And there is still more to come! The second half of “Chiral Redundancy” launches on September 17 and will introduce Soppo, another popular character from the original Girls’ Frontline and the first Doll capable of dealing both Freeze and Burn dual-attribute damage.
