Illusion Softworks has revealed the first real details on Mafia II today for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
The game is not a direct sequel to the first. You take on the role of Mafioso Vito who has just returned to fiction American location Empire City after finishing his World War II service. Empire City will by twice as big as the city of the original game, measuring in at 10 km2, and was inspired by San Fransicso.
The game features extensive car damage, reportedly better than that of Burnout Paradise. You’ll also have to refuel your vehicles at pumps as well, adding more realistic elements to the title.
Your money is used to buy gas, new clothes, eating at restaurants, because Italians need their pasta.
The game will also feature a Gears Of War-like cover system.
The game is slated to release sometime next year.
