Sony Interactive Entertainment will no longer release its big single-player PlayStation 5 titles on PC, according to a Bloomberg report by Jason Schreier citing “people familiar with the company’s plans.”
Online games such as Marathon and MARVEL Tokon: Fighting Souls will still be made available on PC, but titles like Ghost of Yotei and the upcoming Saros will remain exclusive to PlayStation 5, the people said.
In recent weeks, Sony Interactive Entertainment reportedly scrapped plans to bring Ghost of Yotei and other internally developed games to PC.
This does not appear to affect Sony Interactive Entertainment-published games by external developers, such as Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Kena: Scars of Kosmora, which are still planned for release on PC this year.
One faction within Sony Interactive Entertainment expressed concerns that releasing games on PC damages the PlayStation console’s brand and will hurt the sales of PlayStation 5 and its successors, the people said.
Sony Interactive Entertainment began bringing its big single-player games to PC in 2020, starting with Horizon Zero Dawn. It has since launched games like God of War (2018), God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, Days Gone, Ghost of Tsushima, and the Marvel’s Spider-Man series on the platform, albeit some time after their initial console release.
A spokesperson for Sony Interactive Entertainment declined to comment when contacted by Bloomberg.
