Atari acquires rights to Ubisoft’s Cold Fear, I Am Alive, Child of Eden, Grow Home, and Grow Up

Atari to explore expanding games to new platforms.

Atari has acquired all intellectual property rights to Ubisoft titles Cold Fear, I Am Alive, Child of Eden, Grow Home, and Grow Up, the companies announced. Atari plans to re-release these titles under its label and explore opportunities to expand their reach through new platforms, new content, and additional distribution channels.

“Millions of players have experienced these worlds over the years, and this will open the door for long time players to revisit those memories while inviting new audiences to discover them for the first time,” said Atari vice president of new business Deborah Papiernik in a press release. “Atari has a rich gaming legacy and deep appreciation for these classic titles, we’re excited to see how they’ll evolve and connect with players in fresh, meaningful ways.”

Atari chairman and CEO Wade Rosen added, “Ubisoft and Atari both have a legacy of crafting worlds that players can fall in love with—games that resonate with generations of players not just for how they played, but for how they made us feel. We’re excited to reintroduce these titles while also exploring ways to expand and evolve these franchises.”

Here is a brief overview of each title:

Cold Fear (2005) – A survival horror third-person shooter developed by Darkworks. Originally released for PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC in 2005. Currently available for PC via Steam.
I Am Alive (2012) – An action adventure survival game developed by Ubisoft Shanghai. Originally released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC in 2012. Currently available for PC via Steam.
Child of Eden (2011) – A musical rail shooter developed by Q Entertainment and directed by Tetsuya Mizuguchi (Rez, Lumines). Originally released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2011.
Grow Home (2015) – An adventure platformer developed by Ubisoft Reflections. Originally released for PC via Steam in 2015, followed by PlayStation 4 later that year.
Grow Up (2016) – A sequel to Grow Home developed by Ubisoft Reflections. Originally released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2016.
