Xbox Series S announced, priced at $299 [Update]

"Next-gen performance in the smallest Xbox ever."

Xbox Series S

Microsoft has officially announced Xbox Series S, dubbed “next-gen performance in the smallest Xbox ever.” It will cost $299 / £249.99.

The official announcement comes following leaks by Thurrott of the lower-end next-generation Xbox’s design and price.

While not part of the initial leak, a followup report by Windows Central claimed that both Xbox Series X and Xbox Series X will launch on November 10 for $499 and $299, respectively. Microsoft has yet to officially confirm a release date outside of November, or an Xbox Series X price point.

Microsoft said it will share more information “soon.”

Update 4:58 a.m.: Watch the leaked reveal trailer below, posted by Twitter user @_h0x0d.

The trailer confirms the following details:

  • Nearly 60 percent smaller than Xbox Series X
  • All-digital
  • 1440p resolution at up to 120 frames per second
  • DirectX ray tracing
  • Variable rate shading
  • Variable refresh rate
  • Ultra-low latency
  • Custom 512 GB NVME SSD powered by Xbox Velocity Architecture
  • 4K streaming media playback
  • 4K upscaling for games
