Bandai Namco has released new information and screenshots of Code Vein introducing more Jack and Eva-related story elements, a new sand area, and bayonet and axe weapon variations.

As guardian of the God Shell, Jack has a mission and will confront the protagonist and company many times over. Jack stares with a sharp glint in his eye. Anything that is an obstacle to his mission will be relentlessly slain. How is the shine in his eye connected to his strength…?
Jack will cross swords with the protagonist and company. Even in situations where he is outnumbered, his power is equal or greater. Feared as the “Revenant Hunter” from the fact that he has slaughtered many Revenants, there is no question to Jack’s power. That power can even easily stop an all-out blow from Yakumo.
Lying before Jack’s eyes is a successor… who was either defeated by Louis and company, or… There is mixed speculation going around the God Shell and the successors.
Beside Jack is Eva. Will he also be hostile towards her? Eva suffers from blood thirst and is also carrying out her mission with destiny as a Revenant.
■ Field Introduction: Buildings in the Sand*

A ruins buried in a sea of sand that suddenly appears. It is a dangerous zone where the Lost buried alive in the sand creep up on the Revenants unnoticed and pull them in. It is a dead land without greenery and where only cruel thirst awaits its visitors.

The large amount of sand produced by the back regions has entered the inside of the city and buried it. The Thorns of Judgment have destroyed the cityscape. The trees and shrubs that once grew thickly have also died, and all color has been lost.
The sand that covers the town has also piled atop the ground. Movement speed is lowered on footing buried beneath the sand. It is also necessary to keep an eye out for possible attacks that come from beneath the sand.
When walking upon the ground buried in the sand, your Ichor stock will decrease as time passes. If your Ichor stock is drained, you will not be able to use Gifts, significantly lowering your ability to battle.
You may fall to the “Reek” status ailment if you are attacked by a Lost, which just like walking on sand-buried grounds lowers your Ichor stock as time passes. For Revenants that convert blood to power, this is surely a place of death.
The Pillager of Thirst is a Lost with long limbs and insect-like tusks. Like other Losts, it will try to stop players from moving forward with various weapons.
The Slaughterer of Thirst is another Lost, and seemingly an evolution of the Pillager of Thirst. It is a formidable foe with high endurance, and a hard fight to escape in the shaky sands.
There are also cave-like areas where sand trickles down.
Small side roads that lead up to cliff-like areas also exist. Be careful not to overlook them during your exploration.
■ Bayonet and Axe Weapon Variations
Even weapons of the same category have diverse actions depending on the weapon. This time, we will look at the weapon various of the bayonet and axe.
Bayonet
—The Dark Bayonet’s strong attack. It fires a bullet with greater power than a standard attack.
—The Bayonet’s charged strong attack. It fires five bullets straight across the field and can stop even fast-moving enemies.
—The Riot Smasher’s strong attack. Although it fires bullets at close range, it shoots fast so it is good to use when the enemy is nearby.
—The Riot Smasher’s charged strong attack increases the amount of bullets fired and furthers its range, making it easy to blow back enemies.
Axe
—The Solid Piercer is an axe that specializes in thrust attacks. Its strong attack greatly thrusts the weapon forward to pierce the enemy.
—The Solid Piercer’s charged strong attack. It fires a thrust accompanied by a shock wave, making it easy to stun the enemy.
—The Bisected Garnet’s strong attack. It fires off a slash attack accompanied by a shock wave.
—The Bisected Garnet’s charged strong attack. While taking a big step and spinning, it fires off a shock wave forward. Compared to the standard strong attack, the number of shock waves it generates and the distance that it reaches is increased.
