Sekai Project launches visual novel A Light in the Dark Kickstarter campaign

Suspense-filled visual novel seeking $28,000 in funding.

A Light in the Dark

Sekai Project has launched a Kickstarter campaign for A Light in the Dark, a new, suspense-filled visual novel for PC, and a collaboration between Rabi-Ribi developers CreSpirit, and Chinese visual novel tag team duo Storia and Narrator.

The company is seeking $28,000 in funding to release the project. Stretch goals include the additiona of an after-story at $32,000, Chinese voice acting at $37,000, Japanese voice acting at $48,000, and additional CG illustrations at $52,000.

Story

──We cannot choose in this unfair world.

Hao-Chen Jiang did not understand what it was when he opened his eyes. Before him was a dim and dreary room that he had not seen before. Trying to get up to turn on the lights, he finds that his arms are tied behind him and that is when he realizes that he’s been kidnapped. It is then that a mysterious girl appears before him and with a look of disdain tells him that he’s been kidnapped and unless his family agrees to pay a ransom he has no chance to escape. But perhaps there is more to this than just money…

The rich boy stuck in his never changing daily life…
The fierce girl struggling for survival…
Two people in totally opposite positions in life.

During his days of imprisonment, they will learn of a world they were never aware of which will crumble away at their deep-rooted prejudices. In the face of confusion and the choices before them, what will they find…?

Characters

  • Hao-Chen Jiang – The protagonist of A Light in the Dark. He was kidnapped on his way home and found himself in an unfamiliar, old room with his hands tied. His father is a famous CEO who is constantly abroad on business, making Hao-Chen precocious and independent. He manages to remain calm as a hostage, as he tries to find a way to escape.
  • Mysterious Girl – The first person Hao-Chen meets in the abandoned building, who is in charge of guarding him and contacting his family for ransom. She has an aggressive personality, often mocking and even beating him. For some reason, she has a deep-rooted hatred against the rich, yet also has a soft side towards her friends and family.
  • Young Girl – A black-haired girl tasked with helping guard Hao-Chen. She appears to be no older than 14 to 15 years old. Always quiet with her head hung low, she keeps a watchful eye Hao-Chen and avoids any questions she doesn’t want to answer. She feels unease about her actions, but follows the directions of the m ysterious girl. Their relationship itself is also a mystery.
