Persona 5 ninth party member named Goro Akechi, cooperation characters and gameplay

All the details from today's live stream.

Persona 5

Atlus hosted a Persona 5 Japanese E3 2016 live stream this morning, where it revealed several pieces of new information about the game.

First, Atlus revealed the game’s ninth party member to be a boy named Goro Akechi, voiced by Soichiro Hoshi. He is a high school student and detective. Further details about the character were not shared.

Next, Atlus released a series of “cooperation character” trailers, introducing Tae Takemi, Munehisa Iwai, and Sojiro Sakura. These cooperation characters are just some of the various people that the protagonist and friends will meet, whether in school or in the city, who possess special abilities and skills. Their interests will align with yours, and by building up a relationship of mutual trust, you can establish a cooperative “Co-Op” relationship with them. By deepening your bonds with cooperation characters, you can use their abilities to go about your life as a Phantom Thief more advantageously.

Atlus also announced it will hold a Persona 5 Premium Event at the Tokyo National Museum on July 19. During this event, those granted entry will be able to play the full version of Persona 5. You can sign up for a chance to attend here. The event will also be live streamed on Niconico.

Finally, Atlus has opened the “School Life” and “Phantom Life” pages on the Persona 5 official website. If you read our Persona 5 article last week, you’re already up to speed as far as the pages’ information goes.

Persona 5 is due out for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 on September 15 in Japan and on February 14 in the Americas.

Watch the cooperation character trailers below.

Tae Takemi (voiced by Yuka Saito) – Death Arcana

A female physician with her own practice in the outskirts of town. She sells pharmaceuticals based on her own pharmaceutical opinion, so her practice has become a convenient drug store for the Phantom Thieves. She is rumored to be a doctor of darkness who does not face her patients, but…

Munehisa Iwai (voiced by Hisao Egawa) – Hanged Man Arcana

A military store manager who set up shop in the side streets. He is skilled in the customization of model guns, and his store becomes a suitable weapon shop for the Phantom Thieves. He lacks proper expression, and is rumored to have been a real yakuza when he was younger.

Sojiro Sakura (voiced by Jouji Nakata) – Hierophant Arcana

Master at the deserted, no-alcohol cafe “LeBlanc” in the back streets of Yongenjaya. He’s a delinquent senior without much class, and while he doesn’t say much, has a strange tolerance and charm about him.
