Media Create Sales: 10/6/14 – 10/12/14

It was a big week for 3DS sales in Japan. Not only did we see the release of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, one of the country’s biggest game launches this year next to Super Smash Bros. and Yokai Watch 2, but Nintendo launched its New 3DS models, as well.

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, which is an updated version of last year’s Monster Hunter 4, opened at 1,446,289 sales. The original game, in comparison, opened at 1,715,060 sales.

The LL model of the New 3DS opened at 164,756 sales, while the standard New 3DS opened at 70,050 sales. New 3DS and older 3DS models combined, the platform moved a total of 262,873 units this past week.
