AKB48 idols join the fight in new Super Smash Bros. for 3DS promo [Update]

Mega idol group depicted as Mii Fighters.

The girls from popular Japanese mega-idol group AKB48 are featured in the latest promotional video for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.

The clip opens with the Mii creation of Mayu Watanabe. She then “joins the battle” as a Mii Fighter (pictured above), with her fellow idols Yuki Kashiwagi (bottom left) and Minami Takahashi (bottom right) also participating.

Watanabe proceeds to go fist-and-fist against Mario, before it turns into a massive AKB48-versus-Nintendo battle.
