‘Panopticon’ revealed as Freedom Wars for PS Vita

Multiplayer action game coming to PS Vita in 2014.

Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has announced Freedom Wars, previously teased as “Panopticon,” a multiplayer action game coming to PS Vita in 2014.

The game is set in the near future, where the world is in ruin and humans no longer live in the outside world. Mankind has constructed cities called “Panopticon,” where it is able to survive. However, with resources drying up, the cities are in constant friction to obtain the research required to live in a severe environment.

In order to keep civilians under control, most humans are sentenced to a million years of imprisonment. These “criminals” are forced to become war “volunteers,” and must help “recapture” civilians, taken by giant monsters called “Abductors,” to earn their freedom.

Freedom Wars will allow up to eight people to play in co-op and competitive multiplayer via ad-hoc and Wi-Fi. It will also use PS Vita’s GPS and Near functionality.
