Atlus trademarks P Studio [Update]

Is Atlus forming a new studio for Team Persona?

Index Corporation, the parent company behind Persona and Shin Megami Tensei developer Atlus, has trademarked the name “P Studio” in Japan.

The trademark was filed on October 19, 2012 for use with video games. The logo attached right was included with the application.

Considering the name, it’s possible Atlus is forming a studio built of the team behind the Persona series, or “Team Persona,” as they’re often dubbed. The team’s last original game was Catherine for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2011. And this year, they released an enhanced port of Persona 4 for PlayStation Vita called Persona 4 Golden. They’re currently developing Persona 5.

Thanks, Siliconera.

Update 11:30 p.m.: As pointed out by Eclipse in the comments, it looks like Atlus secretly formed this studio a while back—even before the trademark was filed. Just take a look at the back of the Persona 4 Arena box.

Persona studio confirmed then?
