Move software creator announced for spring
A new application, available through PlayStation Network this spring, will allow academics, researchers, students, and hobbyists to create their own software using PlayStation Move.
Move.Me, Sony’s announced, has the potential to help medical researchers, lead game design students, and other developers create creative new concepts within the areas of “3D modeling, motion capture, and augmented reality,” according to Sony. The application software created, via the PS3 system, is compatible with any Windows or Linux-based PC. The PC will provide the user with the same PlayStation Move tracking data licensed developers are able to access.
“PlayStation Move’s camera-plus-controller combination allows for the most precise and immersive gaming experiences,” said John McCutchan, senior engineer, SCEA Developer Support. “Now we’re formally taking that advanced technology, which was almost ten years in the making, and offering it to innovators outside of our traditional game development community so they can create their own applications to impact the world in exciting new ways.”
John McCutchan, Senior Engineer with SCEA’s Developer Support team, will give a complete presentation on the platform later today at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.
