Tales of Xillia screenshots introduce Alvin

Namco Bandai’s sent out a new batch of Tales of Xillia screenshots, showing off newcomer Alvin, the game’s prologue, the field HUD, and map commands.

Alvin is the second character designed by Kosuke Fujishima, who also designed male protagonist Jude Mathis. Alvin, a skilled mercenary, is 182 centimeters tall and wields a sword/gun hybrid in battle.

Jude, Milla, and Alvin all appear in the new screenshots. The group meets early on in the game, during its prologue.

Xillia proposes new features to the franchise, including mini-maps on the HUD, map actions (such as climbing and jumping off certain points), and more life-sized characters — all of which are demonstrated in tonight’s shots.

The game’s out for PlayStation 3 later this year in Japan. An overseas release has yet to be announced. Check out the screenshots at the gallery.
