BioWare’s latest VGA tease: red herring

BioWare’s put up a new hint for their upcoming game reveal at the Video Game Awards next week. Another 2D barcode, this time it translates to binary code, which ultimately translates to a link with a red herring fish image on the page (reproduced above). A red herring?

“Red herring is an idiomatic expression referring to a rhetorical tactic of diverting attention away from an item of significance,” reads the Wikipedia definition.

Sony Computer Entertainment Russia recently “confirmedMass Effect 3 on their Twitter account. Perhaps BioWare is trying to tell us their reveal isn’t the game we think it is? That being Mass Effect 3.

Have any better guesses?

The SpikeTV Video Game Awards air live on Saturday, December 11 at 8pm ET / 5pm PT.
