Valkyria Chronicles may return to PS3 in the future

After so many speculated that the next Valkyria Chronicles would return to its home console, Sega announced that Valkyria Chronicles 3 would launch on PSP instead. PS3 owners shouldn’t worry too much, though, as Sega wants to bring the series back to the console.

Valkyria Chronicles 3 director Shinji Motoyama told the latest issue of Famitsu that they want to bring the franchise back to PS3, but that a new entry would need to be a radical shift from the first game. The team has to come up with new ideas, he explained, which will in essence take time.

They’re making Valkyria Chronicles 3 for PSP because it’s easier to develop for, which will allow them to put out the game in less time.

Valkyria Chronicles 3 is currently slated for a January 2011 release in Japan. Whenever something’s said about a new game for PlayStation 3, we’ll be sure to have you covered.
