Square Enix‘s US branch has a new president and CEO today. Mike Fischer, a twenty-year veteran of the video game industry, has taken on the role of previous president and CEO, John Yamamoto, who is now an executive advisor. Yoichi Wada, president and CEO of Square Enix Holdings, made the announcement this morning.
Fischer’s new role at Square Enix will have him oversee operations such as the publication and distribution of entertainment content under the Square Enix Group’s brands including Square Enix, Eidos, and Taito in the Americas.
“We are pleased to have the benefit of Mike’s global leadership experience in interactive entertainment and look forward to the significant contribution he will bring to the growth of our North American business,” said Wada.
Mike has successfully operated companies in both Japan and the US including Sega, Namco, and most recently, Microsoft. We’ll see how well he operates Square Enix’s US branch.
