Guitar Hero 6 Announced In Latest OXM

The latest issue of the Official Xbox Magazine has an exclusive reveal of Guitar Hero 6, Activision’s latest numbered title in the musical franchise.

Guitar Hero 6 is narrated by Gene Simmons. Throughout story mode, now called Quest Mode, players have to recruit old guitar heroes such as Johnny, Lars et all, by completing their songs, thus unlocking their alter-ego and gimmick. Example: Lars would become Warrior Lars, which basically allows his multiplier to go up to x6 rather than x4.

“[Guitar Hero 6] is definitely a more focused experience than Guitar Hero 5,” Neversoft Project Director Brian Bright told the magazine, “which was a game all about variety. This is all about rock ‘n’ roll.”

Quickplay has been renamed Quickplay+ and now has new challenges and a more flexible playlist. Over 300 songs can become available from the start as previous downloadable content can be carried over. Artists like Queen, Kiss and Black Sabbath have already been confirmed for the tracklist.

We’ll definitely hear more when the game’s officially announced and a press release is sent out. I guess that’ll be some time next week.
