Hight: God of War III “is not the end of God of War”
God of War III wraps up the God of War trilogy. Regardless, the franchise will continue, according to SCE Santa Monica director of product development John Hight.
“This is not the end of God Of War,” Hight told Gamervision during a recent video interview. “This is definitely the end of the trilogy, but we’re going to continue to do God Of War games. We’re going to be very careful about what we do; we’re the keepers of the franchise and we don’t want to see it ruined or polluted.”
Hight went on to speak on some of the challenges the team faced during development, such as them being newbies to the PlayStation 3 platform.
“We had some pretty interesting challenges going into God Of War III. It was the first time we were on PlayStation 3, we knew that this was going to be the last game in the trilogy so we needed to pull out all the stops, not only technologically but we had to tell a great story at the same time.
“… We really wanted to take our time, rebuild our engine, take advantage of every ounce of the PS3 tech, so one of the things we’ve been showing… is our dynamic environments, which is literally a living breathing creature, a titan in this case, that is a level in and of itself that you can navigate across, battle other creatures on, have puzzles on – it’s like a real moving environment. No other game that I’m aware of actually has that level of technology.”
God of War III releases for PlayStation 3 in March, this year.
