Codemasters, the developers behind the DiRT and Operation Flashpoint games, has announced today that Heist is no longer in production.
“After a much extended development period, Heist has been terminated as a project and removed from our release schedule,” a Codemasters spokesperson told CVG.
“Codemasters is focusing its future portfolio on high quality titles that will, in the majority, be developed and produced by our internal studios.”
Heist was in development at inXile Entertainment. It was set to take place in a 1969 San Francisco with players controlling criminals and stealing whatever it is they need to steal. Oh well. It’s not too big a loss.
According to CVG, Codemasters is planning “announcements for some truly huge games in the next few months.” We’ll look forward to it.
