Tenebrea
Tenebrea is a horror video game developed and published by Bowl of Tentacles.
About
Tenebrea is a first-person psychological horror game set in a student residence in Valencia, Spain and inspired by true events. For years people who lived and worked there have reported strange encounters, from shadows moving in the halls to objects changing place on their own, from loud noises to apparitions that felt too real to ignore. These events became the base of the story you will uncover while exploring the residence.
You play as Laura, a student who must face the mysteries hidden in the building. Your phone is your main tool, its flashlight helps you move through the dark while the EMF detector reveals paranormal activity such as voices, whispers and terrifying presences. Exploration is key, every room hides details that bring you closer to the truth while puzzles and paranormal encounters push you to the limit.
Tenebrea offers a mix of mystery, investigation and psychological horror that will keep you on edge until the very end.
Based on a True Story
The story is based on a real student residence in the city of Valencia, Spain. For over 10 years, staff members have been experiencing strange occurrences within its walls, shadows moving through the corridors, footsteps in empty places, objects out of place, and things moving on their own.
These phenomena intensified after a tragic workplace accident, when a maintenance worker lost his life, falling from one of the rooms while carrying out repairs.
One of the most unsettling stories comes from a security guard. One night, while two exchange students were asleep in their room, the TV suddenly turned on by itself. The light from the screen revealed the silhouette of a man standing at the foot of the bed, wearing what they described as a reflective safety vest.
When the guard asked which room they were in, he realized it was the same room from which the maintenance worker had fallen. From that moment on, management decided to close it permanently and never rent it out again.
This is just one of the many stories from the residence and we have a video that proof of the strange phenomena that still happen inside.
The Story
With all of this in mind, we’ve created an original story that weaves together the real experiences shared by the residence’s staff. Every strange noise, every unsettling sight, every chilling encounter they’ve described has been reimagined and brought to life inside the game.
While the events in Tenebrea follow their own narrative, the atmosphere, the fear you’ll face are rooted in those real testimonies, making the line between fiction and reality far thinner than you might expect.
