Here is an overview of the game, via Plotrick:
About
Five years after the “idiot virus” pandemic, a letter arrives from the father you thought was dead. Rustown is a story-driven stealth adventure about finding him in a slum where the infected live. Evade watchful eyes, follow clues, and discover the stories of those caught up in the city’s troubles.
A Letter After Three Years of Silence
The protagonist’s father contracted the “idiot virus” during the pandemic, leaving him with impaired memory and diminished intelligence. He later disappeared. Three years after his disappearance, he sends the protagonist a letter.
To find him, the protagonist must go to Rustown, the city the letter came from. Rustown is a slum that formed as the infected gathered there, cast out by their families and society after their intelligence declined. Beyond the reach of the authorities, it is a lawless place where gangs of the uninfected clash with gangs of the infected.
Why did he disappear? What is happening in this city? The protagonist steps onto Rustown’s streets in search of answers.
Stay Unseen as You Follow the Clues
Danger lies on the path to the truth. Observe your surroundings, choose your moment to move, and stay hidden as you slip past watchful eyes.
Use tricks and tools to create openings, then make smart decisions to put your plan into action.
People’s Stories Connect the Dots
The search for the missing father leads to encounters with a range of people and factions. Some stand in the protagonist’s way, while others offer help. Each tells the city’s story from a different perspective.
Piecing together conversations and clues reveals the background to the events and the connections between people. As the protagonist draws closer to finding their father, they gradually come to understand Rustown’s people and the world they live in.
Rustown: a story of life and kindness that endure in a broken city.
