Report: Sucker Punch Productions lays off 26 staff
"Next week we will go into more details about the future."
Sony Interactive Entertainment-owned Ghost of Tsushima and Ghost of Yotei developer Sucker Punch Productions has laid off 26 of its less than 200 staff, according to an Aftermath report citing a former employee.
“After carefully observing the challenges in the market and reviewing the team needs for our next project, we’ve decided to make some staffing reductions,” a Sucker Punch Productions email to staff reviewed by Aftermath reads. “Several positions across Sucker Punch will be eliminated as a result.”
It continued, “We know this is a lot to take in, and we want to assure you that we did not make this decision lightly. We have given this a lot of attention and worked to support our affected colleagues during this transition as well as we can… There’s no getting around that this is a hard day. Next week we will go into more details about the future.”
Ghost of Yotei, Sucker Punch Productions’ latest release, launched for PlayStation 5 on October 2, 2025. A Complete Edition, including the new expansion “Echoes of Sekigahara,” launched on October 1, 2026.
