Atooi will release horror first-person shooter sequel Dementium II for PC via Steam on October 20, the developer announced.
Dementium II first launched for DS on May 4, 2010, followed by PC on December 17, 2013. The Steam release is a new, “remastered” version.
Here is an overview of the game, via its Steam page:
About
The DS horror sequel, reborn. William Redmoor wakes with fresh staples in his skull, inside an institution for the criminally insane, where the walls keep peeling back to expose something worse. Fight, solve, and survive your way out. The cult classic, remastered.
Phase One is Complete
The last thing William Redmoor remembers is the Doctor’s scalpel. Now he wakes at the Bright Dawn Treatment Center with a new wound and an old accusation: the records say he murdered his wife.
In his cell, a postcard is waiting. The handwriting is his own. It tells him to run.
Something Got Out
The staff insist he’s recovering. But since the surgery, reality has started to split, and the “hospital” keeps tearing open into a demented version of itself. The Doctor has a theory about why: whatever was wrong inside your head, we let it out!
Beyond the Walls
Escaping Bright Dawn is only the beginning. Outside lies an empty village and a countryside crawling with things that shouldn’t exist. Letters signed by his wife lead him deeper. She says she’s waiting for him.
A Bigger, Deadlier Sequel
- Fight smarter. Hold your flashlight and weapon together, and jump and crawl through larger environments.
- More weapons, more monsters, each demanding its own strategy.
- Enemies stay dead. Clear an area, and it stays cleared.
- Save points and a carry-anywhere inventory so you can use health when you need it, not just when you find it.
- Beyond the asylum: a hospital, an abandoned village, and places far worse.
Faithful to the Original. Rebuilt for Today
- Every corridor, creature, and twist from the DS original, now on a single screen and looking as sharp or as crunchy as you like.
- Crisp or crunchy. Play in up to 4K, or drop to retro resolution for the pixelated look of the original hardware.
- Classic or modern flashlight. Explore with a realistic new beam, or switch to the original DS stencil light for the authentic look.
- Walk in blind. The original warned you with music whenever an enemy was near. Turn it off, and nothing will tip you off.
- Redesigned for a single screen. Everything the DS split across two displays now fits in one view, with an on-screen mini-map to guide you.
- Your choice of controls: full controller support or mouse and keyboard.
- Steam Deck Verified. Take the nightmare to bed with you.
- Steam Achievements to earn.
New to Dementium?
You don’t need to have played the first game to survive this one. Here’s what you need to know.
In Dementium: The Ward, William Redmoor woke up in a hospital with no memory, surrounded by creatures that had no business being alive. Newspaper clippings claimed he had murdered his wife. Visions of his daughter led him deeper into the dark, while a man in black who called himself the Doctor watched every step.
William fought his way down to the basement to face him. It didn’t end the way he hoped.
Dementium II begins where that ending left him: under the Doctor’s knife.
