Vampire hotel simulation game Bloody Hell Hotel will launch for PC via Steam in 2027, publisher Gambit Digital and developer Unfold Games announced.
While the game was originally looking at a potential Early Access release in 2026, additional funding from the game’s publisher has allowed it to push into 2027 with a full release at launch.
Here is the full message from Unfold Games on the release window announcement:
Greetings, fellow Vampires!
Our new gameplay trailer is here, and with it, confirmation that Bloody Hell Hotel is coming in 2027. I know that after all these years of waiting, a delay will be super disappointing—I think it’s more than fair, and I’d like to explain exactly what led to this decision.
But first, I encourage you to simply enjoy the trailer! We took a pretty…ehm, unconventional approach with the audio—I don’t think you’ve heard anything quite like it in a game trailer before. Almost all of the footage is pure gameplay (often sped up to match the “music”), with a few in-engine montages to show off furnishing and coffin upgrades.
OK, let’s switch off the corporate tone for a moment. I’m the game director of Bloody Hell Hotel, and I wanted to tell you personally how we ended up here. No carefully crafted PR language—just context for those who are interested.
When I first announced the game in 2022, it was already ambitious, but nowhere near what it has become today. Your feedback was pretty clear: you wanted a bigger game, with more features, more freedom, and more things to do. And so did I!
The problem was… monies. Bloody Hell Hotel was entirely self-funded from my first game, DARQ, and expanding the scope further didn’t even seem possible. But I decided to take the leap anyway—after all, I had only three months of savings when I started working on DARQ, so it’s not exactly the first time I’ve done something crazy. I wasn’t making this game to grow a studio or build a business—that is not to say that I don’t like monies—I like monies muchly. It just wasn’t the main motivation. I just wanted to make something bloody amazing—something worth making.
Long story short, we eventually received funding we needed to get us to Early Access, which allowed us to expand a team that was already pretty large. Early Access became a good option for 2026, but there was a clear compromise there: not all features would be included, and the game wouldn’t have the level of polish we’d ultimately want. Launching a game, after so many years of development, as an unfinished product just felt off.
And to be fair, Early Access was tempting for a different reason, too! We’ve been developing this game with your input from the very beginning. So many of your ideas have made it in because we simply loved them: vampire classes, thralls, moon cycles, gnomes, fang customization, pets, vampire hunters…the list goes on.
But Early Access would also have helped us fund the final stretch of development. And that was a problem I really wanted to solve without asking you to buy an unfinished game.
Well, here’s the good news: We’ve just received additional funding from our publisher, so we no longer need Early Access to finance the rest of development.
So… instead of releasing an unfinished game this year, we’re aiming to launch the complete, polished 1.0 version in 2027, with all six vampire classes, 270 skills (including upgrades), thralls, and the rest of the planned features that haven’t even been showcased yet—all included from day one.
It wasn’t an easy decision, obviously. Asking you to wait even longer is a big deal, especially after all these years. I know many of you have had this game wishlisted for years now! The decision ultimately came down to: what benefits the players more? I believe, launching the game in its finished form does.
My goal with Bloody Hell Hotel has always been to make…well…the most ambitious first-person simulation game in existence. I know, it sounds absurd. But I wanted it to guide every decision throughout development, because that’s the only way we’ll ever get close to it. Other than that, I don’t take this ambition (or myself) too seriously. I just take the work of pursuing it very, very seriously.
Will we succeed with this ridiculous goal? I have no idea—that’s for you to decide anyway. But I want you to know that we’re doing everything we can to make Bloody Hell Hotel exactly that.
As always, thank you for your patience, your ideas, and all the enthusiasm over the years. More info and development updates will follow. We still have work to do before version 1.0, but we’re getting there.
—Mr. Dev
