Publisher tinyBuild and The King is Watching developer Hypnohead have announced The Crab is Walking, a roguelite city builder coming to PC via Steam. Playtests will begin 2027.

About
Construct a city upon a giant monster and guide it through the apocalypse.
You will experience full strategic depth squeezed into short roguelite sessions: construct, fight, get further, do it again with what you learned.
- Deep strategy combined with short runs. It is never an easy ride.
- All buildings have their own unique forms. Space limitations require tough decisions.
- Pick your Ride. Pick your Rider. Different shells, different playstyles.
- Merge and upgrade your buildings. Then find the combos that break the game.
- 100+ unit types. Powered by gasoline and hate.
- The safe road is safe. The hard road pays. Take the easier route, or push against it for better rewards.
A City on Eight Legs
Space is precious when you’re building a city on the back of a giant crab. Every building has its own shape, and every connection matters.
Will you grow your army, boost production, or focus on keeping your Ride moving? There’s never enough room for everything, so sooner or later, you’ll need to decide what should be the priority to win.
Merge buildings, unlock upgrades, reshape your settlement every run. On the crab even urban planning becomes a challenge.
Rider on the Shell
Pick your Ride. Pick your Rider. Every creature and every hero journeys through the wasteland in a unique style.
Sometimes, pairs favor an aggressive approach; other times, they are defensive or productive or depend more heavily on skills. The right combination will depend on what’s your playstyle and how you develop your creatures.
Play to your advantages, work with your weaknesses, and find the pair that works for you. The rabbit was fast. The turtle was persistent. You have a giant crab.
Choose Your Fury Road
No two runs take the same road. Choose your path and weigh the rewards against the danger. Only you decide how much trouble you’re willing to crab into.
Different paths bring different challenges and opportunities to shape your city. The wasteland is an ocean of possibilities for anyone who knows how to sail it.
