Publisher Fellow Traveller and developer Origame Digital have released the official story trailer for Penguin Colony.
Here is an overview of the game, via Fellow Traveller:
Penguin Colony is the second game from ORIGAME DIGITAL, the developers of the acclaimed Umurangi Generation.
Part adaptation, part re-imagination, Penguin Colony is a sincere expansion of H.P. Lovecraft’s mythos. Drawing inspiration from stories like At the Mountains of Madness and The Shadow Out of Time, the game is set just two years after Lovecraft’s death, and carries on his tradition of weird fiction.
Set in the 1939, the game asks: “Who would his protagonists have been during that era?” It follows a titular colony of penguins observing the horrors uncovered by a group of Nazi scientists searching Antarctica for the architects of mankind.
Opposing them are the Indigenous Kaitiaki. One group seeks to extract this inconceivable power for its own destructive means, while the other, as it has been doing for generations, hopes to return it to its slumber for another hundred years.
These humans, with their strange sights and sounds, will pique the curiosity of the local penguins. Embody any one of these penguins and wander the frozen landscape, following the humans in their discoveries, and witnessing their minds collapse under the strain.
Penguin Colony is due out for PC via Steam in 2026, followed by Switch 2 shortly after.
