Grand Theft Auto V PS5 and Xbox Series upgrades become free on June 18
No longer any need to purchase the new versions separately.
Users who own the PlayStation 4 or digital Xbox One version of Grand Theft Auto V will be able to upgrade to the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series version at no additional cost starting June 18, Rockstar Games announced.
When the PlayStation 5 version first launched, upgrades from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5 were available for $9.99 for a limited, three-month window. Since then, PlayStation 4 or Xbox One owners who wanted to upgrade have had to purchase the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series version separately.
The enhancements introduced in the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions were later made available to the PC version for free, alongside PC-exclusive features such as ray-traced ambient occlusion and global illumination.
The free upgrade will launch alongside “The Kortz Center Heist” in Grand Theft Auto Online. Read more about the update here.
