Town-building simulation game Go-Go Town! will leave Early Access launch for Switch 2, Switch, and PC via Steam on July 16, developer Prideful Sloth announced. The Switch 2 version is newly announced.
Go-Go Town! first launched in Early Access for PC via Steam on June 18, 2024.
PlayStation and Xbox versions are also planned.
“Go-Go Town! has changed so much since the start of Early Access,” said Prideful Sloth creative director Cheryl Vance in a press release. “The game has always been about the joy of being a hands-on Mayor—building, optimizing, decorating, wrangling tourists, and sometimes eating garbage for reasons best discussed in a town council meeting. Reaching 1.0 and bringing the game to Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 feels like the perfect moment to welcome a whole new wave of Mayors.”
Here is an overview of the game, via Prideful Sloth:
In Go-Go Town!, players are handed the keys to a town that has seen better days and tasked with transforming it into a thriving tourist destination. As the new Mayor, they’ll plan neighborhoods, build shops and homes, manage production chains, hire workers, welcome visitors, and keep on top of the general day-to-day chaos of building their dream town. And when mayoral duties get too much, they can take a break with a spot of fishing, hit the Go-Kart track, or even high-five a cow.
Whether playing solo for total control or teaming up with friends, Go-Go Town! blends boundless creativity with satisfying management systems, giving players the freedom to design, automate, customize, and occasionally cause a little mayoral mischief.
Since launching in Early Access, Go-Go Town! has over 2,000 Steam reviews, with a 94% Very Positive user rating. The game has grown enormously through community feedback and major content updates. The 1.0 version includes a packed town hall’s worth of additions, improvements, and new ways to play, including:
- Online cooperative play for up to four players on Steam, and two players on Nintendo Switch, with support for mixing online and local players
- Expanded tourism systems including visitor personalities and desires, town ratings, and a host of new tourist types from clowns, robots and dinosaurs to aliens who insist they’re ‘just visiting’.
- Cliff terraforming, major landmarks, transit terminals, and more ways to reshape and expand your town
- Fast travel, new townies, new clothing, new tools, new décor, and a whole range of new vehicles from flying brooms to trusty horses
- A refreshed 1.0 tech tree, designed to give players more agency in how they unlock, build, and develop their town
At 1.0, players can build at their own pace, refine the perfect supply chain, design the most beautiful town imaginable, or recruit other mayors to build together, and then panic together, when it becomes clear everyone has a very different idea of “helping.”
