Publisher Smilegate and developer Tripearl Games have released a demo for roguelite action game The Player Who Can’t Level Up for PC via Steam.
“This demo reflects our core gameplay loop—fast, responsive combat layered with build-driven progression,” said Tripearl Games CEO Manson Jeong in a press release. “We’re focused on refining combat feel, system clarity, and replayability through player feedback as we move toward Early Access.”
Here is an overview of the demo, via Tripearl Games:
A First Look at Limitless Builds and Stylish Combat
Built to spotlight the game’s core loop, the demo invites players—and press—to step into the role of Kim Kigyu, a Player cursed to remain at Level 1 for five years, to experience a hidden narrative and uncover the secrets of “Another Tower” never seen in the original webtoon.
The demo offers hands-on access to the game’s early progression systems and combat sandbox, including:
- Full exploration of the “Pantheon” zone, the game’s first themed area.
- Dynamic, timing-based combat using Kigyu’s Ego Swords, LU and EL.
- Roguelite build experimentation through randomized “Ego Shards” and “Blessings.”
- Climactic boss encounter against the formidable Erebor.
- Replay-driven design, encouraging multiple runs with evolving strategies.
Designed with accessibility in mind, The Player Who Can’t Level Up combines simple controls with high-skill expression, delivering cinematic, high-impact combat without overwhelming inputs.
From Global Hit IP to Full-Scale Action Experience
Based on a web novel and webtoon franchise with over 210 million cumulative views, The Player Who Can’t Level Up brings a proven global IP into a fully realized 3D action roguelite format.
Players follow Kim Kigyu, who awakens as a “Player” but remains permanently stuck at Level 1—defying conventional RPG progression and growing immensely powerful by continuously upgrading his weapons through a permanent progression system.
