Phonopolis, the 3D puzzle adventure game by Amanita Design first announced in May 2022, will launch for PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG on May 20, the developer announced.
Here is an overview of the game, via Amanita Design:
In Phonopolis, players take on the role of Felix, a regular garbage collector who faces the imminent threat of falling under the control of the city’s authoritarian Leader. Accidentally becoming the only person who consciously recognizes the threat, Felix must stop the authoritarian Leader from playing the “Absolute Tone” and turning all citizens into mindless servants forever.
Alongside the game’s release, Amanita Design is preparing to launch a documentary film capturing the game’s unique and lengthy development process. Directed by Ales Brunclik, Constructing Phonopolis will be available to watch in full on YouTube shortly before the game launches.
Unlike Amanita’s previous titles, which relied on non-verbal communication, Phonopolis features a fully voiced narration in English by Joe Acheson, known for his music project Hidden Orchestra. To make sure players worldwide can enjoy Felix’s story, the game features subtitles localized into 17 additional languages as listed on the game’s Steam page. The original score was composed and produced by Tomas Dvorak aka Floex, with sound effects provided by Matous Godik.
In February 2026, Amanita Design released a public demo of Phonopolis on Steam which has received over 600 user reviews, 99 percent of them being positive, securing the mythical “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating.
