Curse Warrior second trailer, latest details and screenshots
Character loss and more detailed.
Publisher Nippon Ichi Software and developer guruguru have released a new trailer, information, and screenshots for dungeon crawler RPGCurse Warrior. As announced earlier today, a demo is also now available for all platforms in Japan.
First, here’s the trailer:
Here are the details:
■ The Reality of Character Loss
When allies are defeated by enemies, they are not knocked out—they are “lost” on the spot. Lost allies will never return, nor can they be revived or resurrected.
Even allies you have spent a long time training can be lost with a single bad decision.
These are not unavoidable “accidents”—they are the results of your decisions.
Every decision you make in a dungeon carries the risk of losing your allies. Dungeons are randomly generated, so no two are the same, and their difficulty constantly changes. Danger is always close at hand.
—Allies killed by attacks are “lost” and will never return.
■ Irrational “Curses”
Curses that infest the dungeon will mercilessly bare their fangs at the player.
Your actions may be restricted. Your abilities may be stripped away. Your allies may be weakened.
The full effects of a curse are only understood once you experience it firsthand.
To survive, you must accept the curses’ irrationality and make use of them.
However, some curses can have beneficial effects, such as restoring health, dealing additional damage, or allowing you to deflect attacks with a parry. Survival depends on your ability to skillfully control curses.
—Curses with harmful effects can slowly drive adventurers to their deaths.
Jobs, party composition, items… players have a wide range of choices.
Who should stand on the front line? Who should stay in the back line? And sometimes, who should be abandoned? In Curse Warrior, strategy requires a willingness to make sacrifices.
There is not always a correct choice. Each job has strengths and weaknesses on the front and back lines, making their placement an important strategic decision.
—Clerics and Paladins, with high HP and durability, can take monster attacks from the front line.
■ Items
Before entering a dungeon, you can purchase items at the shop. Early on, you will have limited funds, so choosing what and how much to bring is key to survival.
—Provisions can be brought without spending funds, so make sure to bring them.
■ Demo Now Available
—All you carry over is knowledge.
A demo that lets players experience the irrationality and tension of Curse Warrior is now available.
All allies you train, equipment you acquire, and levels you gain will be lost.
All you carry over to the full game is knowledge of “how one dies,” “what will be lost if I act,” and “how one survives.”
And that knowledge is the most valuable resource you can have..
Those who enter unprepared will surely lose it all. Only the few who understand the world will survive.
Curse Warrior features systems that serve as the “keys to survival.”
■ The Role of Jobs
One who blocks enemy attacks on the front line. One whose skills pair well with curses. One who specializes in support, increasing allies’ chances of survival.
Each job has clear strengths and weaknesses, and none are all-rounders. Who stands in front, who is protected, and who is cast aside? Understanding jobs directly affects survival.
There are eight adventurer jobs, each with their own preferred attack types, curse resistances, and optimal party positions. Adventurers also possess two skills. Keep these characteristics in mind when forming your party.
At the “Wolf Moon Tavern,” you can hire a variety of adventurers, whose abilities differ depending on their job.
Hiring an adventurer with strong abilities or useful skills can be key to clearing a dungeon. Over time, new adventurers will appear at the tavern and become available for hire.
—Each adventurer has different abilities and skills. New adventurers visit the tavern over time.
■ Purification Facility: Rainbow Eyes
Rainbow Eyes is a purification facility that purifies curses.
By purifying curses, you can remove unfavorable curses while keeping beneficial ones.
Upgrading the facility increases the number of adventurers and curses that can be purified at once.
—Curses that disadvantage adventurers can be removed through purification.
■ Exploration Items: “Lifelines”
While exploring caves, exploration items such as potions, antidotes, and hammers are essential.
Use them, or save them?
That single decision could determine who survives and who is lost.
Dungeons offer a variety of items.
Some of these items strengthen adventurers when equipped.
Finding and equipping these items is essential to making adventurers stronger.
—Equipment can also be obtained as quest rewards or after battles.
■ Curse Fusion
Curses have affinities, and depending on their combination, they can become significantly stronger. This is called “Curse Fusion.”
Combining two or three curses creates a more powerful curse, transforming it into a higher-level curse with an increased activation rate.
You can carry up to six curses. If a curse has two effects, up to 12 different effects can activate. The timing and probability of each effect can cause the cursed character’s stats to fluctuate in complex ways.
Curses can have irreversible consequences. Only those who understand, accept, and are prepared to master them can take this gamble.
—Two curses can combine to form a new, higher-level curse.
