Basketball Classics now available for Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch
Previously released for PC.
8-bit basketball game Basketball Classics is now available for Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch for $9.99 with a 10 percent-off launch discount, publisher Acclaim and developer Namo Gamo announced.
Basketball Classics first launched in Early Access for PC via Steam on March 24, 2018, followed by a full release on December 18, 2019. The PC version is also now available via Microsoft Store.
“This has been a childhood dream of ours,” said Namo Gamo co-founder David Pilkington in a press release. “Now, almost a decade in the making, Basketball Classics will be available to new users on consoles worldwide. Thanks to Acclaim for making this dream a reality. We can’t wait to follow this up with Super Basketball Classics.”
Here is an overview of the game, via Acclaim:
Five-on-five professional basketball born from the golden era of sports games. This spiritual successor to the 8-bit ballers bridges the gap between retro and today’s simulation games.
- Side-scrolling, sweaty arcade action.
- Simplified three-button gameplay.
- Decades of rosters with over 175 teams.
- Over 1,000 players with individualized attributes.
- Seamless play calling.
- Sensational cut scenes.
- One-player Story Mode unlocks secret teams.
- Scream-inducing local multiplayer.
- Retro vibes galore.
- No virtual currency. No pay-to-win. No micro transactions. Ever.
Side-scrolling, arcade action is paired with on-the-fly strategy. Three-button gameplay is easy to pick up, but it is the dynamic play-calling that elevates this title beyond just long bombs and acrobatics.
Attribute-rich players make up a vast set of rosters. Dig through decades of teams to find your favorite All-Stars and even unlock the “Legends” in an immersive story mode.
This game is a passion project for us indie developers here at Namo Gamo. We hope you can feel the love put into every pixel, the endless adjustments to stat-driven gameplay, and the genuinely retro sound and music.
