New version of original Final Fantasy VII coming to PC

Old version to be delisted, but remain accessible to existing owners.

Square Enix will release a new version of the original Final Fantasy VII for PC via Steam with “an improved gameplay experience,” the company announced (2).

Users who already own Final Fantasy VII for Steam will receive the new version for free, and the old version will remain accessible to existing owners under the name Final Fantasy VII – 2013 Edition. However, the 2013 Edition will no longer be available to purchase after the new version’s release. Save data will also not be compatible between the two versions.

Further information about the improvements in the new version were not announced.
