KingsIsle Entertainment will release free-to-play magic school massively multiplayer online RPG Wizard101 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 9, the developer announced. A release date for the previously announced Switch version will be announced at a later date.
The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions will be available to download for free, and players can enjoy the free content up to the recently expanded Fre-to-Play area in the Oasis zone of Krokotopia. As players progress further, content can be unlocked through the purchase of Crowns (premium currency), or through the purchase of area Access Passes through the console storefront.
The Switch version will not be available as a free download, but instead as a paid download for $19.99 that includes access to the first arc of the game’s storyline. Accounts created on a Switch will play on the same server as other console players.
Wizard101 first launched for PC on September 2, 2008, and is currently available via client download and Steam.
