Scarface: The World Is Yours PC re-release announced [Update 2]
Published by EC Digital Entertainment.
Hong Kong-based publisher EC Digital Entertainment will re-release the PC version of open-world action adventure game Scarface: The World Is Yours via Steam and Epic Games Store, the company announced.
The Epic Games Store version is available now for $29.99—though its early release was “unintentionally pushed live” due to a technical issue during backend configuration, EC Digital Entertainment said in a note on Steam.
“We want to clarify that our intended long-term release platform includes Steam, and we’re now accelerating our efforts to finalize this version,” EC Digital Entertainment said. “As such, you may notice that the current Steam page includes placeholder content. This will be updated leading up to the official release.”
Scarface: The World Is Yours first launched for PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC in 2006, followed by Wii in 2007.
The PC re-release will include an optional high-definition graphics mode, available as free downloadable content. According to EC Digital Entertainment, this mode uses artificial intelligence-assisted techniques to improve certain visual elements, “while keeping the core experience in tact.” The use of this mode is completely optional, and players can switch between original and enhanced visuals at any time.
Here is an overview of the game, via its store pages:

Update: Twitter user @__silent_, who created the “SilentPatch” modification for the PC version of Scarface: The World Is Yours, noted that the Epic Games Store version that was released early appears to ship with SilentPatch and another modification called “Fusion Fix” pre-installed. While not necessary due to licensing, neither creator was contacted about the release in advance.
Gematsu has reached out to Scarface license holder Universal Pictures regarding whether this release was authorized and will update this story with any response.
Update 10:57 a.m.: EC Digital has posted the following update:
Hi everyone,
We want to sincerely thank all of you who noticed and showed interest in Scarface: The World Is Yours (2006).
We’ve recently entered urgent discussions with multiple parties concerning the project’s status. After careful consideration, we believe that temporarily hiding the store page is the most appropriate step forward, and we’ve already begun coordinating with Valve to make that happen shortly.
The current page was initially intended as a placeholder while we worked through ongoing licensing and technical matters. Unfortunately, the unintended release of certain builds on other platforms caused unexpected complications and concerns. Because of that, we feel it’s necessary to pause and reevaluate.
We want to apologize to the community for the confusion and concern this situation may have caused. If things change and we’re able to bring the game back in the future, we’ll let you know right away.
This was entirely our responsibility. We also kindly ask that no one harass or share the personal information of anyone involved. Some of our partners working on completely separate projects have already been negatively impacted, and we deeply regret putting them in that position.
We accept full responsibility and are committed to doing better.
Thank you for your understanding.
