Tensori will release backrooms pools game POOLS for PlayStation 5 with PlayStation VR2 support on November 25, the developer announced. A demo is available now via PlayStation Store. It is currently flatscreen-only, but will be updated with PlayStation VR2 support in the near future.
POOLS first launched for PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, and itch.io on April 26, 2024.
The PlayStation 5 version will launch with the base game, the “Chapter 0” expansion, and the PlayStation VR2 mode.
Here is an overview of the game, via Tensori:
POOLS invites players into a world of vast, deserted public swimming spaces and submerged corridors, blending haunting liminal architecture with the soothing and at times unsettling presence of emptiness. Is someone watching you? Are they there with you? Is this perhaps just a dream? You’re never quite sure.
Developed by Tensori, a team of four in Finland, POOLS became an unexpected phenomenon after its debut. It went on to win the “Best Creative Achievement of the Year” at the Finnish Game Awards, earned a 95 percent “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam, and allowed the developers at Tensori to turn their passion project into a sustainable studio.
PlayStation 5 players will be able to play the original POOLS game and the “Chapter 0” expansion, both in flatscreen and on PlayStation VR2. The PlayStation VR2 mode will also be available for free.
