The Game Bakers has delayed survival climbing adventure game Cairn from its previously planned November 5 release date to Q1 2026. It will be available for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam.
“The tough decision was made to ensure Cairn is at its best at launch, and delivers the unforgettable experience players are expecting from the demo,” reads the announcement. “The game is currently content complete and the few extra months of development will be spent on optimization, debug, and polish. The Game Bakers’ goal has always been to create games players remember long after playing them, and for Cairn, despite the team’s best efforts, this requires extra time.”
In a statement, Cairn creative director Emeric Thoa said, “We have been running a lot of playtests, and the feedback from players is that we have something truly special with Cairn. We also see all the improvements we can still do to make the experience unforgettable. After five years of work, it makes no sense to rush it, we want to be proud of the game we launch.”
Starting October 13, Cairn‘s demo, which has been played by over 600,000 players across PlayStation 5 and PC, will be updated to allow climbers to see ghosts of other players climbing alongside them, for a limited time.
