Staffer Case: A Supernatural Mystery Adventure coming to Switch on May 29

Team Tetrapod will release a Switch version of mystery adventure game Staffer Case: A Supernatural Mystery Adventure on May 29. In Japan, pre-orders for a physical edition are currently available at retailers like Amazon.

The Switch version will feature Japanese voice-overs, as well as the ability to play the spin-off title Staffer Reborn, which is also available for PC via Steam.

Staffer Case: A Supernatural Mystery Adventure first launched in Early Access for PC via Steam on March 10, 2023, followed by a full release on April 30, 2023.

Staffer Case: A Supernatural Mystery Adventure is a new sort of mystery game, asking players to find clues, arrange them into documents, and point out the contradictions between them to solve a series of murders.

The game is set in a fictional version of London in the 1960s where 10% of all residents have some sort of supernatural ability. In this city, incidents involving staffers, the people who have these abilities, are constantly occurring.

Players take the role of the Mana Affairs Division’s newest detective, Notrick, in order to make sense of these incidents. Since the tricks buried within these staffer cases, at their core, revolve around the supernatural abilities of these criminals, conventional investigative methods won’t be enough to solve them. Instead, players will have to rely on the documents that explain what their suspects’ abilities entail in order to make sense of everything.

Combine the Evidence Uncovered Through Supernatural Powers

Fortunately, it’s not only the criminals who have these supernatural abilities.

All of Notrick’s fellow detectives at the Mana Affairs Division are also staffers (Excepting gumshoe Notrick himself, of course!). The senior detectives use their supernatural abilities to investigate the crime scenes and organize their findings into documents.

Testimonies that account for emotional distress, invisible trace that tells when evidence was left, even memories that remain in objects—find contradictions using the various clues at your disposal!

Five Full Cases and Two Substories

Solve five cases involving supernatural powers! Play through two substories that delve into the characters’ backstories and personalities!

• Case 1: Backstage – Notrick, an assistant from a small town detective agency, receives a letter from the Pheno-mana Bureau and heads off to London.
• Case 2: Pet Shop – Creechers: the mutated results of Pheno-mana. An incident occurs at a creecher breeding facility.
• Case 3: The Wizard’s Room – Staff: tools that exist with mysterious powers. The body of a famous staff collector was found sliced in half, vertically.
• Case 4: Mistletoe – Oppenheimer: the threat level applied to Pheno-mana as dangerous as atomic bombs. In the basement of the Bureau lies a facility that houses these Oppenheimers.
• Case 5: ??? – Present events, past events, and the truth that lies beyond…

Staffer Reborn

About

Staffer Reborn is a game of supernatural abilities and logical deduction set in 1960s America. It tells the story of a man trapped in a cycle of death and resurrection caused by his supernatural ability and the investigator who was recruited to help.

The Lieutenant, a man with the supernatural ability to resurrect, has reached the end of his life and awaits death from old age. However, his revival ability steals this natural death from him, sticking him in a cycle where his old age kills him every fifteen minutes. Players must step into the shoes of the investigator who takes the case, investigate the Lieutenant’s ability, and help him achieve eternal rest.

Gameplay

Talk to the people around the Lieutenant and investigate the items in the room to obtain new information on the case. The information you uncover will be recorded on files detailing your findings.

If you succeed in collecting all the information there is to uncover, at that point, it’ll be time to start logically deducing what you can from it. Ensure you’ve got a solid grip on the situation surrounding the Lieutenant thus far. Use the information in your records to uncover new truths lying in wait.
