Ribelio and his men, who had escaped from prison, joined them, and the operation seemed to be going smoothly. However, Noel and her team were met in the basement of the mayor’s mansion by a group of people with whom they had a long-standing relationship.

■ What is Noel the Mortal Fate
A bizarre adventure game serialized since April 2016. Noel, whose parents are professional pianists, fails to win a piano competition in Laplace and is left alone in despair when she is not chosen as a “ceremonial player,” a prestigious honor. Noel hears from Mayor Burrows that the selection process was rigged, and believing him, she heads for the abandoned building he has designated as the site of the competition. She summons the great demon Caron to make a “contract” with him in order to become a “true ceremonialist,” but soon after, she loses both of her arms and legs as the price of the contract. Noel is on the verge of death, but she is saved by Caron, who is still angry at Burrows for using him, and he offers her “revenge” against him. The two form a cooperative relationship, and gradually catch up with Burrows while confronting one crisis after another. The manga has already sold more than 250,000 copies, and the drama CD based on this original story, released in April 2019, reached no. 23 on the Oricon charts.
