PS4 worldwide shipments top 110.4 million

Worldwide total shipments for PlayStation 4 have reached 110.4 million, Sony announced in its financial results for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2020.

A total of 1.5 million PlayStation 4 units were shipped during the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2019, which is down 1.1 million from the 2.6 million shipped during the same period the previous fiscal year.

Sony surpassed its previous forecast that it will sell 13.5 million PlayStation 4 units in fiscal year 2019, with a total of 13.6 million units sold. The company did not share a forecast for PlayStation 4 unit sales for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2021.

Here are a couple of additional statistics:

  • There are 41.5 million PlayStation Plus subscribers as of March 31, 2020, which is up 5.1 million from the 36.4 million subscribers during the same period the previous fiscal year.
  • PlayStation 4 software sold 59.6 million units in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2019, which is up 4.9 million from the 54.7 million software sold during the same period the previous fiscal year. 66 percent of those sales were full game software digital downloads, compared to 45 percent the previous year.
