Yakuza: Like a Dragon details reasons to build up ‘Life Experience’

Job unlocks, status ailment resistances, and more.

Sega has released new information and screenshots for Yakuza: Like a Dragon introducing some of the reasons players will want to build up the previously detailed Life Experience.

■ Life Experience

“Life Experience” not only develops resistances to “status ailments” and increases the effects of Kiwami Skills (special moves) in battle, it is also essential to meeting new characters and developing deeper relationships with girls.

By building up Life Experience, protagonist Ichiban Kasuga will be able to obtain new jobs. Some of Kasuga’s jobs at Hello Work, the place you will go to change jobs, require that certain Life Experience conditions be met.

—Kasuga’s “Host” job requires an “Stylishness” level of three or higher.

Build Up Life Experience to Gain Advantages in Battle

By building up Kasuga’s Life Experience, you will obtain resistances to “status ailments” in battle. It should be noted that this will only effect Kasuga.

  • By building up Enthusiasm, you will become resistant to the “Kiwami Skill Seal” status ailment.
  • By building up Mentality, you will become resistant to the “Sleep” status ailment.
  • By building up Kindness, you will become resistant to the “Rage” status ailment.
  • By building up Cheerfulness, you will become resistant to the “Fear” status ailment.
  • By building up Intelligence, you will become resistant to the “Brainwash” status ailment.
  • By building up Stylishness, you will become resistant to the “Charm” status ailment.

Life Experience can also enhance the effects of certain Kiwami Skills obtainable by Kasuga’s “Hero” job.

—The effects of “Hero’s Love,” an HP recovery skill that heals all party members, can be enhanced by building up your “Kindess.”

Build Up Life Experience to Unlock New Places

There are places that Kasuga cannot go with low Life Experience. If you talk to the man standing at the entrance to the public toilet, he will tell you for some reason that you cannot enter the toilet in an unfashionable state. However, by building up your “Stylishness,” you will be able to enter.

You can recruit some of the characters you encounter in the city as employees for the company which Kasuga is president. However, in order to be scouted, it is important that they see Kasuga as a man over men. If his Life Experience is low, they may not want to be associated with him. Become the type of person they want to see to successfully scout and hire them as an employee of your company.

—Kasuga should know the latest trends if he intends to scout the mamas of the Snack District.

The desired Life Experience differs from girl to girl, so build up various experience and increase your Life Experience to develop deeper relationships with girls. And by giving presents to girls, you can build even deeper connections. If a girl opens her heart to Kasuga, a special event with only the two of them may even occur…

—In order to chat with Iroha at Survive Bar, you will need to increase the Life Experience she wants to see.
