This Week’s Japanese Game Releases: Shenmue III, Deemo Reborn, more

Shenmue III for PlayStation 4 and PC, and Deemo Reborn for PlayStation 4 are the highlights of this week’s Japanese game releases.

Crowdfunded by fans and backed by publisher Deep Silver, Shenmue III is a sequel 18 years in the making. Set directly after the events of Shenmue II, protagonist Ryo Hazuki continues his journey across China to find his father’s killer. In addition to new and returning characters, the game promises a “gorgeous, charm-laden, and danger-filled China,” from “festive towns to dark and dank enemy lairs,” skill-adaptable Free Battle and Special Skill systems, mini-games, and more.

Deemo Reborn is a remake of the popular mobile rhythm game, rebuilt from the ground up in 3D. Players will be able to explore previously hidden areas of the castle where the game is set and uncover more of the story through additional scenarios. The game ships with more than 60 songs for the rhythm game parts, with additional songs planned via downloadable content.
